I coach people through periods of transition or challenge, and support the leaders of today and tomorrow to grow in confidence and power.
I am particularly interested in how individuals develop a style and approach that is true to themselves and builds their confidence, and how people make successful transitions to be the senior leaders they wished they had. I help people grow their self awareness to improve their leadership and delivery, and develop balance to support their long term resilience. I have a particular specialism in coaching jobshares.
I take an integrated approach to my coaching practice: employing powerful questions, drawing on leadership theory and personal experience, exploring metaphors and imagery to find new perspectives on old problems, and using valuable tools from the emerging fields of neuroscience and mindfulness. The mix is insightful yet playful, and delivers strong results.
I have 20 years experience working in policy and corporate roles in the Civil Service, at senior leadership and Board-level positions. I use that experience to support people to find an approach that allows them to thrive and grow in high pressured environments.
During my time in senior leadership, I had to take extended periods of leave due to my young daughter’s, and then my, serious illnesses. Those experiences were difficult but made me a better leader, and made me passionate about supporting others in navigating such transitions, and contributing to a more inclusive workforce. They also gave me valuable insight into what it means to reassess priorities and values in response to major life challenges and how to use that to build personal resilience and life satisfaction.
For the last seven years of my public sector career, I worked in a highly effective and enjoyable jobshare. We were the first in our organisation to work together in such senior roles, including on the Executive Board. We were awarded the Timewise 50 Power award which recognised stand out success in flexible working. I bring this experience to support anyone who wants to make a success of flexible working, whether that is part-time, jobshare or compressed hours.
I am a mindfulness practitioner and find mindful, compassionate approaches invaluable in supporting individuals to operate and manage stress in high pressured environments.
In 2021, I was awarded a CBE in the Jubilee Honours List for services to the public and voluntary sector. I am Chair of The Laura Case Trust, which supports medical and educational projects in East Africa, and a Trustee on the Board of Spark Inside, which provides coaching to young men in prisons and to those leaving prison in the community.
I am a member of the International Federation of Coaches, and hold an ICF PCC accreditation.
